Cabernet Franc is increasingly prized as a mainstay in Niagara, largely for its “Sense of Place”, and this Tradition, from the Lincoln Lakeshore, is blended with a tiny percentage of merlot from the same vineyard for richness in the mid-palate. Initially presenting classic aromas of herbed dark fruit, the nose surprises with restrained notes of a tight, dark minerality. There is a deft lift to this supple Cabernet Franc; it has tonnes of complexity, but takes time to show itself. Rich, mineral, earthy fruit on the palate, needs some time in the cellar (or a decant it at midday to serve that night). Will improve for half a decade to come!
Aged 16-18 months in French Oak Barrels.
